The Street Department
Responsibilities
The street department is responsible for the following duties:
- Street repair and maintenance
- Snow removal
- Sidewalk and curb repair and maintenance
- Leaf pick-up
- Clean-up of dead animals in the roadway
- Painting all curbs, intersection control lines, school crossing, and street lines
- Replacement/placement of broken/new signage
- Pickup of garbage while on the back of the garbage truck, as well as picking up yard waste and chipping brush
- Performing maintenance/repair work of street surface with blacktop, patch and stone
- Mowing and weed eating right-of-way areas within Town limits
- Assisting in the cleaning and maintenance of storm drains and drainage ditches
- Hanging and removal of holiday decorations and/or flags
The Traffic Division
Within the Street Department is the Traffic Division. It is responsible for the average daily traffic in the roadway.
This includes the following along with other issues as they arise:
- Designating “yellow” no parking zones
- Signage
- Handicap parking spaces
- School zone flashers
- Construction of detour routes
- Intersection improvement
- Neighborhood traffic concerns,
- Traffic signal installation & repairs, and
- Truck routes
